Today, we present you the first model from the LEGO® Technic series that we have. This is not the only model in our collection, so expect more reviews of this series in the future, but today we will focus on the novelty of 2021, which we and our son liked the most. This is a remote-controlled model of an off-road Buggy. We will assemble it with only 374 blocks, which at the price you have to pay for it gives a very high price-to-one ratio. This is mainly due to the presence of two motors to drive each axle and a battery-powered hub with a Bluetooth module (the Buggy can be controlled via an application or using a powered up pad, for example, from a passenger train model).
Like any Technic model, this is not an easy model for a 6-year-old to assemble. Too much is at the stage of assembly of moments where a possible mistake could result in errors in design and final operation. In the design of the rover used several interesting elements, thanks to which the rover is agile and has a fairly large range of motion of the suspension.
All the fun for the kid begins when you connect the kit to the application and go into the field. The application at the moment allows you to control the rover only with a joystick, which for me is troublesome, but the Little One has mastered it faster than me. For myself, I used the tutorial from YouTube and reprogrammed the controls so that you can control with two hands. There are also various challenges in the application (racing and fighting with a virtual opponent), which gives the young man a lot of fun, although I do not understand it. It’s kind of a game, kind of a power play, but our boy likes it.
In summary-the rover looks super cool and its abilities in the field are great looking through the eyes of a child. For adults, besides the advantages of new blocks to create their own modifications is weak – mainly due to the poor control+ application. Hopefully, it will be updated in the future. But we look through the eyes of a child and for us this set is cool because it is a toy that our son reaches for most often recently.
