When the great premiere of the series created by combining two giants of entertainment for children, i.e. Lego® and Nintendo, was planned in the summer of 2020, we were so excited together with millions of other fans. We had a starter course set as the preorder and it was supposed to wait for us after returning from vacation. And so it was. In addition, we bought expansion kits and so today we have half a room filled with this series. As adults, we look at it, to put it mildly, with reluctance, but our son loves to play with it. The magic of this series lies precisely in the aspect of playability. The child liked the folding process very much, but we didn’t really like it – mainly because nothing specific was created out of it, except for extremely fragile and easily broken structures. But you have to admit that once you spend a fortune on expansion kits and put them together in various configurations, it has charm and sense as such. Colors and uniqueness as well as a variety of structures and characters do a lot here. In addition, there is an interaction that the child perceives very personally. And this is how the series was created, doomed to global success. But as a typical toy for children, it will definitely not interest AFOL and has no investment potential.
We thought for a long time how to present the sets of this series to you in photos and films – they are extremely non-photogenic. We decided to show them to you by 3 so that it would have some expression. For the first fire, we invite you to look at the 71360 starter set and two 71382 expansion sets, i.e. a set from 2021 with an interesting character Piranha Plant and 71364 from 2020 with a large Whomp and a bridge over the lava. Each of the obstacles has a set of tasks encoded in a barcode for which our Mario gets coins or extra time. Covering them is a great task for a kid.
Do we recommend this series – well, if there is a fan of the adventures of a brave plumber at home, then for sure. Though unfortunately you have to spend a little too much money to enjoy the variety. We will gradually come back to this series because we have a lot of sets to show. Meanwhile, we invite you to the first part.
