LEGO® Technic 42099 – 4X4 X-treme Off-Roader

Here we have another remote-controlled vehicle from the Technic series. This series is definitely not suitable for building for a 6-year-old, but the ability to remotely control an already built vehicle is most suitable for such a toddler. That’s what we got when we bought that toy. Dad and mom assembled it and our child was watching with impatiently, because as soon as possible he wanted to try out a new vehicle.

The design makes a very good visual impression. On the shelf presents itself perfectly. Huge wheels on a high suspension, well-chosen graphic inserts-really could not be better. Bravo Lego®! For operation, we need, as before, an application for a phone or tablet “Control+”, which, of course, for some is a minus – it does not bother us, because the little one does not know the analogue control capabilities. And in the application there are various bonuses and missions to perform, which for the child are excellent. Missions rely on the execution of commands, mainly related to the slopes and angles of attack-as in all terrain vehicles.

The off-road performance of this vehicle is not bad, but frankly we expected more. It often happened that under not at all large elevations just could not cope. You can probably change the size of the gears changing gear ratios which will increase the speed and force transmitted to the wheels, but we have not played this yet. Therefore, the car is relatively slow in the field especially when compared to the previously presented vehicle of this series.

In general, we all liked the vehicle very much both on the shelf and during off-road driving. Look for some promotion on it because it is definitely worth buying a little cheaper than in the catalogue.
