LEGO® Speed Champions 75894 – 1967 Mini Cooper S Rally and 2018 MINI John Cooper Works Buggy.

The Speed Champions series, unlike the previously described Super Mario, is very popular among adult Lego® fans and therefore has an investment character. It is not very often chosen by us as parents of an almost 6-year-old because it is simply difficult to build. However, there are a few sets that I, as a father, had to smuggle into our son’s playroom. One of them is the featured set with cars from the Mini brand stable.

First, the car that participated in the Dakar Rally, the green Buggy. Raised, sprung with a strange structure makes a very good impression. Of course, as is usually the case with this series, and especially when the rally model is folded, we have a lot of stickers, which, unfortunately, are difficult to stick, and this is basically the only drawback.

Red is a classic Mini model from 1967 (this year this little one won the Monte Carlo Rally). The size comparison of both cars looks great. Suffice it to say that this little one is only 5 studs wide. The side posts on the windows are delightful. A lot of blocks imitating additional lights – rallies used to be like this and they required a lot of light – today two additional powerful lamps are enough, in the past these lamps were weaker and you needed more of them. Such is the attention to detail in this set. The same applies to the spare tires on the roof – today it doesn’t look that way during rallies. There are a lot of new bricks in this baby, which also gives this set a great value in the future.

In addition to cars, we have 4 minifigures. The least interesting is the photojournalist, the rest keep the level of the whole set with cool prints on the torso with brand logos. Plus, this buildable kit includes a Rally Service Point construction with lifts, service tools and monitors to watch the rally progress.

A very interesting set for automotive fans of both historical and modern models. However, I would rather recommend it for older boys because it will be too difficult for little ones to assemble on their own.
