LEGO® City 60226 – Mars Research Shuttle

We continue our review of the very successful 2018 mini-series about the conquest of space. Here is the shuttle from the City 60226 set. We can assemble it from only 273 elements, so the price of this set is not high. Honestly, looking at the built model of the spacecraft, I was surprised that only so many bricks were needed to build it. You could say that this is an old school of constructing kits as they were once created. Indeed, you can find many classic bricks and building techniques here. In addition, it is enriched and a few technical details that make it look not archaic. Bravo Lego® well-thought-out set.

We have the main vehicle here, which is the space shuttle. Decorated in the colors and style of the entire mini-series. Its crew consists of two characters – a pilot minifigure and an astronaut. It’s great that there’s a place for both of them inside the vehicle. Of course, the pilot sits at the controls in the cabin, which is interestingly presented. The astronaut is ready for the mission and takes his place in the openable cargo of the shuttle. There you will also find a large cockpit with indicators and an image from the drone’s camera and space for this small drone, which has a kind of storage for specimens collected on the surface of Mars. The rear of the ship with engines and wings looks very nice. It really is a very solidly constructed vehicle. The only downside seems to be the color of the sticker on the cabin – it should be white (just like on the box) but it is gray. The sticker itself is interestingly designed, but this color …

In addition, the set includes a tiny second helidrone (which actually NASA is currently working on) and a pretty neat rover powered by solar panels. In addition, a piece of rock with crystals and an interesting patent – the plate with the rock has an imprint that can be examined with a red glass from this small helidrone. Check for yourself what you will receive.

So we have a very nice set – a bit classic, a bit modern. Definitely worth buying.
