Lego® 60097 City – City Square

This is a set! For many fans, this is a set to which the consecutively released sets filling the city are compared (including this year’s – unfortunately) and, what can I say, none of them keep the level of this legendary set. The Stolica set previously described on the blog does not match this variety, flavors and details. But to the point …

The Lego® City 60097 set was created in 2015 and contains 1683 elements, including 14 figures plus a dog (husky). We consist of two large buildings – a car showroom with a glass door that opens and a lifted elevator for car servicing, and a real Lego store with an exhibition and flavors, about which in a moment. The car dealership itself is a bit bland – no decorations or even sidewalls. It is supposed to be used only for displaying the cars sold. The only “decoration” is the car tire rack … The sliding doors do not slide perfectly. The service section is already more playable. The manually elevated ramp with car service ramp is cool.

The second building, the official Lego® store, is a completely different matter. Very nice, with flavors, such as the year of the Danish company, i.e. 1932, stamped on a brick, a wall with Pick-a-Brick blocks and even blocks that imitate boxes with sets. Plus two mannequins with figures of Astronaut and Knight – great thing. In front of the store, a street lamp that will give your city a realistic look (I really like sets with such accessories). There is even a tram timetable on the lamp …

From the smaller buildings there is a small cafe with take-out coffee and a large tram stop. Both are very nice and colorful with details (for example, a bicycle rack is added to the cafe and there is of course a bicycle in the set). It all complements the set nicely.

There are a lot of vehicles – we have 3 small passenger cars – not outstanding, but also correct and fun to play. We have a tow truck with a moving ramp and another fan treat – a yellow Lego car with boxes of bricks. We have a blue TV helicopter – quite ordinary like many, but fun to build. And finally, something that is a huge treat, i.e. an orange and black tram consisting of two sections and a connector with a place for a bicycle. The tram is the icing on the cake of this set and is collectible. There are many tutorials on the web on how to insert a battery into the connector and make this tram a set powered by electricity and running on ordinary tracks. Since 2015, there has not been a nicer tram and unfortunately the year 2020 with this year’s flagship set of the Market did not change that (the tram from the latest set is weak).

Figures are also interesting – we have:

A cook – or rather itinerant hot dog seller
Girl with red hair – very cool minifigure with long hair
Pizza delivery guy – great – cheeky smiling on the bike
Mechanic – quite standard
A lady selling in a cafe – a pleasant lady in color harmonizing with her gastronomic point.
Tow truck driver – a standard bearded man
KFOL – cool young lego fan
LEGO Store Sellers – There is a store manager and LEGO truck driver
Brunette – Another lady with long hair.
Helicopter pilot – rather standard with visitor glasses
Astronaut – Super
Knight – as above
The driver – he could not be missing
The set is rather impossible to get – we managed to find it in a small shop with various toys in Pomerania. Became dusty at the list price. Hence the advice – also look in such places.

We absolutely recommend and invite you to view photos.
